We Interrupt This Class For An Important Public Service Announcement

Aim: How do we collaborate on a PSA on an important topic for the Crotona community?

Quick Write: Brainstorm a list of issues that you believe is important to the Crotona community.

PSAs (public service announcements) are free advertisements or commercials that bring important information or advice to the public.

As a class, we will create a PSA advertising important information to the Crotona community which we will publish on Monday. Yes, Monday!!! It doesn’t have to be long. We should be able to get the message out in a minute or less.

Step 1: We need to agree on our message. What’s an important message that the Crotona needs to know? Click here to see an "ideas list" of topics for PSAs.

Step 2: We will try a video format. We will need to create a storyboard and assign clips.
Step 3: We will need to collaborate in writing a script for our presentation.

Step 4: Shoot, record, and present! We will link our completed presentation to this blog.

Playing With Videos

Aim: How do we refine our multimedia projects?
Do Now: Describe some challenge you are having with your project.

Me? I'm trying to figure out how to get a video to work on Blogger. I'm wondering if it's me or the school's WiFi access. Perhaps it blocks all videos.

I'm also having a difficult time saving Jmar's dance video so I can post it here on Blogger. I tried to save it to my Google Drive without much success. So now I am trying to upload an existing video I have on Drive. Not able to do that either.
Help!

Here's a video I took of Shirley.

This is NOT Shirley.

Storyboards!!!!!

"Failing to plan is planning to fail."
                    --Alan Lakein

Aim: How do we use a storyboard to map our projects?
This is a storyboard.

Do Now: Review the planning sheets you submitted and revise accordingly.

Most of you submitted your planning sheets. You have all chosen some interesting projects, but you are trying to do too much! As you continue to plan your project, you should find yourself naturally focusing on just one aspect of your topic. There is no such thing as too much planning!

Professionals in all media formats use storyboards to help them plan their presentations. Storyboards are to multimedia what outlines are to essays. Below are two links to two kinds of storyboards that you can use in your planning. Hard copies of the graphic organizer are available in class. The Flip Book is an interactive storyboard.

Class Selfie!

Welcome to the first post of Multimedia Explorers. We are from Crotona Academy in the South Bronx and this is me, Ms. Becker, with some of my awesome students. We are all learning together about the power of multimedia presentations.

Today we are going to discuss the multimedia project that everyone will be working on to complete this class. See the links to two resources below.
